New Lada X-Cross 5: what it should have been
Recently, the Russian car factory demonstrated a new model that will be assembled at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. Many were probably not pleased with the fact that the car is practically no different from the Chinese progenitor, so we decided to imagine how it could look in the current Lada style.

At the end of last year, the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg came under the control of AVTOVAZ . Since then, there have been rumors that cars from the Chinese concern FAW will be produced on it, and this information was confirmed two weeks ago . The next product of the so-called badge engineering will be put on the conveyor - the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover, which is the FAW Bestune T77 with new logos. By the way, this model has been officially sold in Russia since the end of 2021, and its debut on the home market took place back in 2018. Moskvich 3 became the first such model, which tried on the nameplates of the Russian brand, and we have already restyled it in retro style. Now let's try on the current style of the company for the new Lada crossover.
The main external feature of all new Lads is, of course, the X-design, which is most characteristically reflected in the front. The crossover shown in the renders will receive curved chrome moldings, a new radiator grille with large honeycombs in the style of the restyled Lada Vesta SW Cross and an updated front bumper. Branded stampings appeared on the sidewalls, while they were made a little more compact - the future Lada Granta , whose renders we published recently, will receive about the same . As for the rear, here the Lada models cannot distinguish any characteristic details that unite them, so we focused on the company's latest novelty - the updated Vesta, from which they borrowed a decorative insert in the rear bumper. Also, the crossover received a new design of rims.
There are no official technical details about the new Lada yet, for sure the differences from the original FAW will be minimal. The Chinese crossover in Russia is offered with a single engine - a gasoline turbocharged 1.5 with a power of 160 hp. (258 Nm). It is quite possible that the characteristics of the version from the Russian automaker will be slightly different. A choice of 6-speed “mechanics” and a 7-speed DCT robotic box with two clutches are offered, the drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.
The assembly of the new crossover Lada X-Cross 5 will begin in June this year.
The cost of the Russian novelty is still unknown, we can only focus on the prices of the Chinese original, which is officially sold in Russia. The minimum price tag for the FAW Bestune T77 crossover is 2,169,000 rubles for the version with a manual transmission. The option with a “robot” is at least 104 thousand more expensive, and the most expensive Prestige Plus equipment is estimated at 2,432,000 rubles.
Recall that earlier this year AVTOVAZ announced “charged” versions of the restyled Lada Vesta station wagon and the Granta liftback.
