Lexus-style Omoda S5 GT sedan revealed: soon in Russia
The "sported" version of the "eski" was based on a similar performance of the Chery donor model. At home, such a sedan is supposed to have a 197-horsepower turbo engine, there is also a more modest version. But about the “four-door” technique for the Russian Federation they will tell later.
Russia has become the first market for a separate Omoda brand (in native China it is only a Chery line): last year we launched the C5 crossover , and recently local dealers opened orders for the S5 sedan . Meanwhile, mother Cherie decided to turn Omoda into a global brand. So, the brand has already appeared in South Africa and Mexico, later it will come to other countries of Latin America, as well as to the Middle East, Europe and Kazakhstan. And it was the Kazakh division that revealed a new version of the “four-door”: a photo of the “sported” Omoda S5 GT was published on social networks.
Recall that the standard “eska” is a Chery Arrizo 5 Plus with other emblems and nameplates. To be more precise, the export version of the Arrizo 6 / Arrizo 6 Pro was taken as the basis, which has a different front end. The “sporty” modification is an analogue of the Chery Arrizo 5 GT sedan , which debuted in China in 2022.
As in the case of the usual “four-door” S5, the recipe for turning “sport” into Omoda turned out to be simple: the logos were replaced, and round foglights were also installed in the front bumper, plus contrasting decorative inserts were added. In general, there are quite a few external differences between the “hot” version and the “just” Omoda S5: the GT has a Lexus-style grille, other headlights with LED strokes of running lights characteristic of the Japanese “premium”, more aggressive bumpers and black wheels.
The interior of the Omoda S5 GT has not yet been shown, however, the available image shows that, like the Arrizo 5 GT, the Omoda sedan has a scoreboard, that is, a combined virtual tidy and touchscreen of the multimedia system (the standard “eski” has separate screens, and the multimedia tablet is built into front panel).
Information about the technique of the export "contested" version is not yet available. In China, the Chery Arrizo 5 GT is now available with 1.5 and 1.6 petrol turbo fours, the base engine produces 156 hp. and 230 Nm, the second - 197 hp. and 290 Nm. The 1.5 liter engine is mated to a CVT, while the 1.6T is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Front wheel drive only. The usual Omoda S5 sedan in Russia is available with a 1.5 aspirated engine (113 hp, 138 Nm) and a turbo engine of the same volume (147 hp, 210 Nm), both engines are equipped with a CVT.
A full-fledged premiere of the Omoda S5 GT will be celebrated a little later, and at the end of summer such a sedan will enter the Russian market, as Kolesa.ru was told at the local Omoda office. Prices, of course, have not yet been named. Our standard "eska" costs from 2,159,900 rubles (excluding shares).
