Now official: former SsangYong, and now KG Mobility Rexton updated
Frame models received a new interior, and the truck also got a top version with its own design. There are no technical updates.
The day before, brochures of the upgraded Rexton SUV and Rexton Sports pickup were posted on the Web, but now such cars are officially presented. Recall that in March of this year, the Korean automaker changed its name from SsangYong to KG Mobility , because the local conglomerate KG Group became the main shareholder.
The passenger all-terrain vehicle has also been renamed: in the domestic SUV market, it is now called KG Mobility Rexton New Arena. By the way, the model of the current generation has been in service since 2017, it experienced a large-scale restyling in 2020. However, this time the appearance is almost not affected, except that 20-inch wheels of a new design have appeared, and the global emblem of the ex-SsangYong now flaunts on the radiator grille, and the KG Mobility nameplate is installed on the stern.
However, the interior has been completely redone. So, the all-terrain vehicle got a new front panel - with airflow deflectors hidden in a single wide die. The multimedia system has also been replaced: the tablet has become larger, in addition, it rises above the panel, and is not built into it. KG Mobility Rexton New Arena has also acquired a touch-sensitive climate control unit. Finally, the complex of electronic assistants has been improved (in particular, it includes adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and lane keeping systems).
As before, in Korea, the SUV is available with a non-alternative 2.2 turbodiesel (202 hp, 401 Nm), which is combined with an eight-speed automatic. Drive - rear or hard-wired full.
Sister KG Mobility pickups Rexton Sports and Rexton Sports Khan (extended version) received a similar interior, while they have their own steering wheel and gearshift lever. And the trucks also have a new top version of Culmen, the chips of this design are headlights, like the passenger Rexton, the original grille and body kit, and other wheels. The length of the "luxury" options is increased by 10 mm: the indicator of the "short" Rexton Sports Culmen is 5105 mm, the Rexton Sports Khan Culmen is 5415 mm. The base truck has a spring suspension, and for the stretched version, you can order springs instead of springs.
Pickups are offered with the same turbodiesel as the SUV, while the Rexton Sports truck after the upgrade is only equipped with a six-speed “automatic” (previously you could still choose “mechanics”).
The upgraded KG Mobility Rexton Sports truck starts at $21,000, the lengthened Khan starts at $23,000; Culmen versions will cost a minimum of $26,000 and $27,600, respectively. The price of the KG Mobility Rexton New Arena SUV with a new interior starts at $29,700.
Meanwhile, in the future, KG Mobility promises to bring completely new SUVs to the market - these will be electric cars, their forerunners were presented at the end of March at the home auto show.
