2022 Lexus LX

The all-new LandCruiser 300-based 2022 Lexus LX is set to be revealed on October 14, the brand’s local arm has confirmed, also issuing a teaser image confirming the LX600 badge.

The partial view of the new flagship’s tailgate shows a redesign of the LandCruiser 300’s rear end, with different sheetmetal, L-shaped LED tail lights, and what appears to be a full-width LED light bar. As for the LX600 badging, we’re expecting the new-gen Lexus LX to launch with a version of the LandCruiser 300’s new 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 in place available in overseas markets like the Middle East, which quotes outputs of 305kW of power and 650Nm of torque under the bonnet of its Toyota twin. By comparison, the LC 200-based Lexus LX570 makes 270kW and 530Nm from its 5.7-litre naturally-aspirated petrol V8. There’s little else in terms of official Lexus LX details, though reports of a new LX570h hybrid did the rounds a few months back, indicating the new-generation model will offer the 325kW/790Nm twin-turbo V6 drivetrain recently launched with the new Toyota Tundra pickup in the States. An October reveal date is also weeks before the reported November reveal date, as Toyota and Lexus continue to battle ongoing component shortages currently posing a challenge to its production schedule. Toyota has already confirmed Australian deliveries of the LandCruiser 300 Series will be delayed due to factory cuts as a result of these component shortages. Further details will be revealed when the 2022 Lexus LX600 is revealed on October 14. Stay tuned.
